Blissfully calming yoga poses for holiday stress relief

Here are 10 yoga poses for instant holiday rest that you can do anywhere, anytime. They can be performed in a short sequence or chosen individually, and can be held from 10 breaths to several minutes.

These postures allow you to breathe and just be, so you can meet your friends and family with a genuine smile.

1. Alternative nasal breathing

While sitting comfortably, place your left hand on your lap. Begin by closing the left nostril with the middle finger of the right hand. Inhale slowly and deeply, then release the finger and close the right nostril with the thumb of the right hand while exhaling through the left hand. Continue for three to five minutes.

2. Assembly

Go across the floor to the four corners of the foot. Take height with your breath and feel your chest rise and fall with it. Keep your palms facing forward to open yourself to receiving positive energy and calmness.

3. Standing pre-fold

This is an instantly calming pose, known to relieve stress and fatigue and energize the body as blood flows to the head. Stay in this position with your knees slightly bent and your shoulders relaxed.

4. Fold the seat forward

Use pillows that will keep you comfortable for several minutes. Relax your muscles, release tension, rest your head on the pillows and just listen to your breathing.

5. Warrior II

These are probably the most powerful yoga postures. Be true to yourself! Stand straight and strong and strike a pose. Try closing your eyes. Feel the muscles in your body working to keep you still as you connect with the absolute power within you.

6. Eagle pose

This position energizes and re-energizes the entire body and gets the blood flowing throughout the body, which is great for boosting libido and having a sexy time with your partner at the end of a busy day!

7. Creating children

A great pose you can do at any time for instant reassurance! Feel your problems disappear when you rest your forehead on a mat, pillow or block and just breathe.

Modification : If your knee hurts, keep one leg straight and switch legs halfway through the movement.

10. Savasana

Savasana is a relaxation posture. It really encourages the body to get into a calm position and breathe, which naturally leads us to a calmer state of mind.

Meditation

Introduce meditation into each of the above postures by first slowing your breathing and sitting in a comfortable position. Imagine a square and associate each line of the square with an inhalation or an exhalation, gradually making the square larger as the breath slows.
